A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image
or idea of a particular type of person or thing
Being a journalist for six years taught me that very few people have any idea of how truly different we all are.
I’ve learned that when people approach us, all they have are the stereotypes they’ve learned about our cultures, gender and positions from media, others’ opinions or limited interactions with others like us.
But behind it all, we’re all different and we all have stories that define us. And I hope this project will show that…
So, I’m collecting stories. Stories of regular people, not so regular people, those struggling with poverty and those better off. Those who have been educated in universities across the country and some who learned tough lessons on the streets of their communities. People of every ethnicity, sexual orientation and political leaning.
I hope you’ll join me in redefining the stereotypes that, for many people, define us.
